The next #Powerball jackpot, Wednesday, Feb 11, 2015, is the third-largest in Powerball history – now up to $485 million. It’s interesting that since we’ve begun developing our comedy film about the lottery, both Powerball and MegaMillions have had higher and higher jackpots. Coincidence?  The highest Megamillions jackpot was on March 30, 2102: $640 million (annuitized), or $462 million (lump cash value). The highest Powerball jackpot was on May, 2013, $590,500, and was the third-largest in world history.

What are the odds? To win the Powerball jackpot, odds are 1 in 175,223,510 … and Megamillions is 1 in 258,890,850. Odd are greater that you will die on the way to buying the ticket than actually winning. Odds are that our film, MEGABALL$, has a much better chance of a payoff for investors!

Actually, it just goes to prove that the fascination with the lottery is growing, as is our potential audience. Combine that with the ever-popular Mob-genre … then combine that with the VERY popular “geek” genre!  The highest rates shows on TV our about geeks, Big Bang Theory and Scorpion, and HBO’s new series, Silicon Valley, is quickly gaining big attention.

Yes, we buy tickets for Megamillion and Powerball. Our title comes from combining the to names = MegaBall$. Can you imagine the press we could generate if we won enough on a ticket to make the film? It would be huge. Meanwhile, we call it ‘research’…..

Geeks, the lotto and the mob. Hey, you never know when your number’s up!
